How to Create Your Ideal Lifestyle

How obtainable is the perfect and ideal lifestyle? Well, as obtainable as you make it. What you want in life is only held back by one thing: your determination. If you want to live a certain way (within reasonability of course) then there is nothing stopping you from doing so. After all, the way that you live now is all a matter of the choices you already made – you chose to live this way.

When you start comparing yourself to others – seeing that they’re accomplishing more and wishing you were too – or when you start realizing that you’re doing things you don’t want to do, then you’ll find that you’re not living your ideal life. This is when you start asking yourself what is it that you want? Who do you want to be and what do you want to achieve?

Creating the ideal lifestyle is about finding happiness and the right balance.  So what are the steps to achieving this?

  1. Determine What You Want

What do you want and who do you want to be? These are two questions that everyone must ask themselves if they want to obtain their ideal life. If you’re assured of these two things, then you’ll have a clearer path for where you should be heading. Be accepting of change and adjustments, because the way that you’re living now, and the person you are now will most likely need to undergo a transformation. You can’t be or having something different if your life remains stagnant.

  1. Prioritize and Be Willing to Make Sacrifices

Once you have your ideal lifestyle in mind, you have to prioritize. Let’s say for example, that your ideal lifestyle is to work less than 30 hours a week and spend more time with the family.

What other aspects of your life need to be rearranged to achieve this goal? Do you need to implement a better process for your business (so you’re doing less time-consuming work), do you need to hire more employees, or do you need to downsize your practice? Sometimes these decisions mean making sacrifices, so be prepared to cover your bases during the change. This will also make you realize that what you want in life has to be worth the sacrifices.

  1. Build Habits Around the Goal

Another vital part to achieving your dream lifestyle is to build key habits around it. What do you need to do daily so that you’re motivated to keep on track? Some good habits to adopt for general success include:

  • Waking up early
  • Planning your day
  • Reading
  • Exercising
  • Giving back/paying it forward.

  1. Make it Your Job

Your ideal life might or might not be centered around your job. If it isn’t, it sure will be now. You must be dedicated to achieving this lifestyle as if it was a lifelong career. In fact, you should put more dedication into it than a career because this is a goal for how you want to live.

Whatever it is that you want to do – become a better practitioner, become a better leader, work less, or travel more – you have to be willing to put the time and effort into making it happen. Creating a few good habits and planning out your life won’t get you anywhere unless you put practice to the plan.

  1. Have Time for Hobbies

Regardless of the lifestyle you choose, you’re going to need to make some time for fun activities. Achieving your goal might start to feel like a daily grind, so you have to prioritize enjoyable hobbies as well. If you don’t leave room for things you enjoy, you’ll start to slip back into an unhappy slump where the ideal lifestyle becomes farther and farther away.

  1. Be Willing, Giving and Grateful

Any attempt to readjust your mode of living means that you have to be willing and open to new adventures, challenges and lessons. Along the way, you’ll also notice that achieving the ideal life doesn’t just mean it’s for you, it’s for the people that you love and care about too. Be grateful for their support during this time, and don’t forget to give back in the process. If you lack encouragement and support your journey might also lack value, so don’t forget to be willing, giving and grateful.

Achieving the ideal life is a matter of determination. If you want something bad enough, you can achieve it. It takes planning, patient and practice. It won’t happen overnight, but it will become easier and easier as the journey goes. But in the end, you’ll be proud of what you accomplished and will realize that all the effort was worth it.
